I found out that there were actually 4 people involved and that Sylvia was not driving. The news reports have changed, since the embassy did not know all of the names.

This is what my daughter has been able to find out so far. Apparently the car collided with a transport truck, in which the car instantly burst into flames. It is unknown which driver missed the stop sign. The truck driver tried desperately to save the kids, but was unable to. One person he managed to pull from the front passenger seat died in his arms. But was unable to determine the gender since the body was burnt beyond recognition (as were all of the passengers). That person we just learned was Sylvia.

In order to have Sylvia's body brought back to Canada costs $30,000. Her father is going to Poland to have her remains cremated, in which he will return with her ashes.

Words cannot explain what her parents are going through. I only know that this news brought me to tears.
